Monday Made It Linky

Yay!! I managed to get a little bit more crafty this week, having finally gotten all my supplies together.apparently its important to have all your supplies before you begin a project. I was reminded of how much I can't stand having a project just sitting around.

It's Monday so I'm linking up again!!!

This week for 4th Grade Frolic's link up I finally finished redecorating two garage sale lamps.  I wish I had taken some.before pics but envision brass bases, tan pleated shades that were ripped, and definitely not matching my classroom.  And now look at them!!  Yes there is only one pictured but I DID do two of them.
My little girl wanted Hera redone so we searched for scrap fabric she wanted and momma got crafty, again.  I actually completed 3 projects this week...think I need to rename the ol' blog to Cantrell's Got Crafty!  Seriously not serious.  It would only be one post long, haha.

Anyways, here are a few pics of the lamp in progress, directions follow.

Here ya go...the how-to:
Materials
Lamps...with shades
Fabric
Spray paint
Spray adhesive
Super glue or equivalent

Directions
1. Remove the shade and spray paint your base.  I had to get a spray that had a primer with the paint in order to really cover the ugly brass.
2. Peel off the fabric overlay that is on the shade. There should just be a plastic-y shade left.  Lay the shade down on your fabric.  This was tricky at first.  You'll need to roll your shade over the fabric and trace it, leaving about 1" edge to be able to fold under the edges.
3. Use the spray adhesive carefully.  Spray a section of the shade and apply the fabric, smoothing out any wrinkles and readjusting to ensure it will fit all the way around.
4.  Let the shade dry for a little bit. Trust me .. if you don't it's a sticky mess. Well it's sticky anyways but still, let it dry.
5.  Using super glue or hot glue or E6000 you'll fold the excess over the rims and glue them down. Again - this was messy. Not sure how to not be messy...so I embraced it.
6. Then if you want to put a trim on it you'll want to glue it on to the bottom, or top, or middle...wherever you want.  I did it in small sections (maybe 4" at a time) and secured it with a paper clip while it dried.
7. Ta-Da!! Sit back and marvel at the newly created lamp you've just made! EASILY a quick hour project. You could probably be a lot faster than me and make it in 30 minutes if you're a fancy-pants crafter :)

Here's a pic of one of mine and then HooBear's lamp that HAD to be redone!

Woohoo!!
